Question: When was the last time you saw something on the news that really helped enrich your life?
I mean, I can’t think of last thing I saw on the news that really made me say to myself, “Wow, that information I just saw really has changed my life for the better,” or, “I’m so glad that I’ve been informed about those 40 Iraqi civilians that were killed by that car bomb, in that street market today. I really really needed to know about that.”
Whenever I see and hear the news, whether via Facebook, Yahoo, the radio, or television, I can’t remember the last time I turned left away feeling like I had obtained some type of valuable information that was really going to help me make a significant impact on this world.
I normally leave away feeling, hopeless, depressed, angry, unheard, paranoid, useless, and like my life is completely out of control.
I can’t sit up here and say that every news source is corrupt. There are legit broadcasters, analyst, and organizations dedicated to giving the public accurate and beneficial information. But, it takes a bit of investigation, on your part, to find credible, fact-based, and responsible sources of news.
I suggest taking a big of time to go and organize your sources to just a handful of individuals or broadcasters you feel that you can trust.
We, as a society, cannot take what is spoon-fed to us on a daily basis. We have to dig and do the research ourselves. Most of the news you see is controlled by only 2 or 3 media conglomerates, and their agenda is not to “accurately inform the public.”
It is to GET RATINGS and PUSH POLITICAL AGENDA. By keeping the masses, angry, fearful, bitter, divided, and depressed, they keep people from mobilizing.
My advice, turn the news off, stop worrying about things you cannot influence, and focus your attention on the things that you can influence.
Stop trying to have an opinion on every great injustice in the world, find out what is most important to you, become extremely educated on the topic, and go out and make change.
Becoming emotionally ill is not going to help you or anyone else.
